AWD's third aviation project is signed with Lufthansa
Andrew Winch Designs have recently been commissioned to design the interior of our third aviation project, our second Boeing Business Jet, and our second collaboration with Lufthansa Technik. This privately owned aircraft will be completed in May 2006.
This BBJ1 (737-700) can accommodate 19 passengers and comfortably sleep 13, in a configuration of 4 double beds and 5 fully reclining certified seats. The open plan arrangement of the dining/conference and executive lounge areas creates a wonderful feeling of space, which continues into the private lounge and bedroom and bathroom which can be fully privatised from the rest of the aircraft. The design accentuates the interior architecture and structure of the fuselage, by exposing the carbon fibre ringframes, and by continuing the timber planked ceiling to the window reveals. A contemporary eclectic mix of materials and textures will be used in the construction, including rich exotic timbers, stitched leather work and shagreen. Naturally coloured fabrics will provide a background to the scheme with accents being provided by textured fabrics and animal skins. The certified seats are based on a classic chair design with a laminated wood shell combined with contrasting leather. The light and spacious entrance hall features a book/magazine display along with semi transparent 'sohji' screens which elegantly conceal the galley whilst guests are embarking. Moving aft from the entrance hall, one will pass the guest WC and Owners office and library, which also doubles as a crew rest area. The office is equipped with full office and fax facilities, along with a fold down meeting table and book display cabinets. The open plan dining/conference area and executive lounge can comfortably accommodate dining for 12. The private lounge also doubles as a childrens bedroom and can be fully privatised from the main living area and Owners bedroom. A rise and fall table can be lowered to provide a full size double bed, or a relaxed seating area for movie watching. Located at the aft end of the aircraft, the fully private Owners bedroom contains a full size double bed, desk and wardrobe space, while the feeling of space in the bathroom is maximised through the use of etched glass in the shower surround.
